A 21-year-old German had to be rescued from “mountain distress” in the Silbertal in Vorarlberg on Friday afternoon. The young man had lost his strength during a walk.
The 21-year-old went for a walk with his mother around noon. Their profile was not particularly demanding: First they took the cable car to the Vordere Kapellalpe, from there the duo wanted to descend via the Inner Kapellalpe in the direction of the Silbertal. But what was supposed to be a hike quickly turned into a real ordeal for the German, who clearly didn’t like mountains. In the so-called shadow forest at about 1400 meters altitude, his strength finally failed him and he could not think of continuing.
So the mother made an emergency call. The 21-year-old was eventually rescued by the crew of the Libelle police helicopter with a 40-meter rope and flown into the valley.
