Hot, Hotter Frequency – Not only partygoers have worked up a sweat

Date:

The Frequency Festival 2023 took place. About 500,000 partygoers celebrated in St. Pölten. The event was mainly characterized by the heat. But not only the bands had their performance. The certainties also worked up a sweat.

The joy of the shower after the festival is particularly great this year. This year’s festival was mainly characterized by the heat. According to the Red Cross, the festival operation went ‘orderly’ in the heat and despite rising patient numbers. The sunstroke mainly caused nausea. Most medical measures were necessary due to minor injuries and blisters on the feet. A total of 81 patients were transferred to the University Hospital St. Pölten this time, compared to 82 in 2022.

Security on the run from police
The financial police checked security and delivery personnel at the festival site on Saturday. The festival has over 600 security people, apparently several have not been properly reported. However, for the organizer this is “uncontrollable”, they have a contract for this with the relevant security company. “As soon as the officers arrived, dozens of security guards and food deliverers fled. They were apparently warned about the checks by a text message, “said the Ministry of Finance. 214 people were surveyed, of which 81 from Germany, 24 from the EU and 109 from third countries. The result was 66 reports under the Social Security Act. Two companies accounted for 48 of those affected. Further investigations are underway.

More than 200 driver’s license revocations
Under the auspices of the Lower Austrian provincial transport department, there was a focus campaign against drugs near the festival. A total of 216 narcotics-related driver license revocations have been recorded, state police reported Sunday evening. Six alcohol drivers also retired.

Positive festival balance
For the festival itself, the executive branch drew up a positive balance sheet. “The mostly very young audience behaved in a very civilized and peaceful manner,” the broadcast said. About 90 criminal offenses have been registered so far, mainly thefts and violations of the Narcotics Act. There were hardly any violent crimes. Of course, this is not a complete list of crimes. Experience shows that more reports will probably be received in the coming days because, for example, thefts are only noticed later. “Nevertheless, it can be assumed that the number of criminal offenses has fallen sharply compared to previous festivals”, it was stressed.

The ÖAMTC booked about 100 operations on and around the festival site this year, slightly less than in 2022 when the balance was 120. “It went well, everything went well. There was no major drama,” says spokeswoman Romana Schuster. The departure also went well on Sunday.

From Thursday to Saturday, bands such as Die Ärzte, Limp Bizkit and Imagine Dragons provided the music. The next Frequency Festival will take place next year from 15 to 17 August. Limited early bird tickets are already available. Jenner will showcase the acts at a separate event.
