Proceedings in Georgia – Trump must pay and must not intimidate anyone

Date:

The Georgia trial for election interference is not Donald Trump’s first trial, but it could be the most dangerous for him. Now it has become known that the ex-president of the US has to pay a bail of 200,000 dollars (185,000 euros). The first arrest photo should be there on Friday.

Trump’s attorneys and prosecutors negotiated the amount, and a judge in the city of Atlanta ordered it. This is according to a court document published Monday. It also includes the provision that Trump must not intimidate or threaten a co-defendant or witness. This also applies to posts on online platforms – where the ex-president recently did.

Donald Trump was indicted in Atlanta last Monday for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 Georgia presidential election. District Attorney Fani Willis’ 13-count indictment is based on an organized crime law known as the RICO Act. Also indicted are 18 former Trump allies, including the ex-president’s former attorney and former New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani.

Trump now has until Friday to report to the authorities to be processed by the identification service. His fingerprints will be taken and there will probably be the first “mugshot”, the arrest photo of the ex-head of state. The indictment will then be read in court the week of September 5.

Trump has already been indicted in four cases this year. Two cases concern his attempts to stay in power after his 2020 election defeat to Democrat Joe Biden. The trial in Georgia is considered the most dangerous for Donald Trump so far. If he were convicted, he would no longer be able to grant a pardon as (re-elected) president due to the legal situation there.
