A new scam has been spreading in Styria in recent weeks: a dubious company called “Nice Tech GmbH” offered cash payments for submitting product reviews through a website and an app.
But for that, potential employees would have to deposit a certain amount into an account to determine the amount of the benefit, the police said in a broadcast.
Five-digit damage taken
But the people waited in vain for the money – they received only a small amount. A police spokeswoman said between 50 and 100 victims were known in Styria. This resulted in a minimal damage amount in the five-digit euro range. The company’s website and app have since been removed.
The provincial police station in Styria warns against such scams, promising “quick money and high chances of winning”. She points out that one should investigate questionable companies on the Internet.
