Police officers from Mühlviertel stopped a minibus in which 19 migrants, including children, were crushed. Not only did the tug risk the life of its live cargo because of the heat inside the vehicle, it simply did not want to be stopped. Unfortunately not an isolated case.
Without batting an eye, a smuggler risked the lives of his ‘customers’. Fearing the Bavarian border controls behind Braunau and Suben, the smugglers are looking for alternative routes, and one of them came into the crosshairs of the officials with his little white van. But he didn’t want to just stop and accelerate at Puchenau. The smuggler apparently didn’t care that 19 refugees, including children, were crammed into the back in a temperature of over 30 degrees and that an accident would have had terrible consequences.
Refugees sat along the road
Fortunately, officers were able to stop the van without any problems. “The car was parked across the street and the refugees were sitting on the grass strip. How many people can fit in such a small van is amazing,” a witness told the Krone. Upon request, the State Police Directorate confirmed the seizure, but they are just processing the entire incident.
Incidentally, German police officers at the border near Braunau arrested an average of ten illegal migrants per day who came from Upper Austria via the Inn.
45 refugees stopped at the border
A stop at Walserberg (Salzburg) also shows how many traffickers are out and about: here 45 migrants – Turks and Syrians, including children – were crammed into a Mercedes Vito (25 people) and a van (20 migrants).
