On Thursday morning, a hiker reported to the police that he had encountered body parts in open terrain on Wednesday during a walk to the Seebergspitze. Despite an intensive search with the police helicopter, the police drone, police mountaineers and the indicator, no body parts could be found at the scene on Thursday.

The human remains, some already skeletonized, were only discovered Friday during another search involving the Maurach Mountain Rescue Service. The police helicopter Libelle Tirol recovered the find.
