A teenager was seriously injured in a dramatic tractor accident this afternoon: The 13-year-old was trapped in the vehicle after it got up and rolled over a steep meadow several times over a length of 100 meters!
It happened today around 5.20 pm in Kirchbach-Zerlach (Southeast Styria district): a 46-year-old was on the tractor with his 13-year-old son to carry out forestry work.
The parched ground was fatal to both of them: on a steep piece of pasture, the tractor lost its grip on the parched ground and began to skid. The experienced driver tried to prevent the snaking downhill by pressing the loader against the ground and braking the tractor. But the vehicle stayed! It tilted steeply down for 100 meters until it finally stopped.
Miraculously, the father suffered only minor injuries, was able to free himself and get help. But his son, who was in the passenger seat, was trapped and seriously injured. He had to be rescued by firefighters and taken to hospital by rescue helicopter.
