Wild pursuit: police shot at suspect’s car

During a wild chase through Vorarlberg, police officers fired shots at a suspect’s vehicle. Eventually, the police managed to stop the man. He is suspected of shooting at a Bregenz front door on Sunday morning. Another suspect managed to escape.

As reported, three masked men shot at a front door in Bregenz at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning. An immediately started alarm search was unsuccessful, but around 9 p.m. the police subsequently tracked down two suspects – in the infamous Achsiedlung in Bregenz. The two men each drove their car.

Second suspect arrested

At the height of the Harderbrug, officials wanted to stop the driver. However, he ignored the attempts, accelerated and drove towards one of the officers.

At that time, the police first fired warning shots and then aimed shots at the vehicle. Only later was the man stopped by some police patrols. The suspect was under the influence of drugs at the time of the arrest. He was arrested Monday.

The police suspect that both the arrested person – an Austrian national – and the other two perpetrators (one of whom has Turkish nationality) can be attributed to the drug environment. Nothing is known about the exact background of the crime. The search for the accomplices continues.
