Man becomes a hero – child falls from the fifth floor – gets caught!

Date:

37-year-old Italian Mattia Aguzzi is celebrated as a hero – because he saved the life of a three-year-old girl in Turin. According to “Corrie della Sera”, the man was on his way to the bakery with his girlfriend on Saturday morning when they heard screaming. Residents of a house saw a girl leaning over the railing of a balcony on the fifth floor.

“The little girl kept leaning and climbing over the edge, holding herself in the air with only her arms and legs,” said the Italian. He stopped in front of the house and just seconds later the child fell off the balcony.

Endless seconds of relief
“I hoped everything would go well,” says Aguzzi, “I almost caught the fall with my chest and we both fell to the ground.” Initially, the girl showed no sign of life. The hero said it seemed like endless seconds before the child began to cry. After that, the 37-year-old was so relieved. When the parents realized what had happened, they took to the streets. The girl was taken to hospital and appears to be in good general condition, according to Corriere della Sera. No obvious injuries were found and she will be released on Monday. Also, the hero is said to have visited the girl in the hospital.

“I don’t believe in fate, but I would never have succeeded if my cousin hadn’t called me to ask me to bring him bread,” says Aguzzi. Stefan Lo Russo, the mayor of Turin, announced that he would nominate the rescuer to the city council for the award of the Order of Civil Merit.

Lots of praise from politicians – right up to the prime minister
Camilla Laureti, an MEP, wrote on Platform X, formerly Twitter: “I suggest that #MattiaAguzzi, who saved a girl who fell from the fifth floor, endangering his own safety and probably his own life, should receive the gold medal for civic courage.”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also paid tribute to the courage of the 37-year-old Italian: “The story of a little girl who fell from the balcony on the fifth floor of a building in Turin could have ended in tragedy. But thanks to the speed of Mattia Aguzzi, who saw her fall and grabbed her in the air, her life was saved. Many honors and thanks to this young hero.”
