Two women in Britain are now in prison for the painful murder of a parrot. A court in Carlisle sentenced the British women to two years and one month in prison. In addition, they are never allowed to keep their own pet, the BBC reported on Tuesday.
The women had denied the allegations in court and accused each other. The two were accused of dousing a gray parrot with paint and furniture polish. In addition, they would have put the bird in a clothes dryer and “Sparky” should have been fed to a dog in the end. Prosecutor Dan Bramhall spoke of sadistic behavior.
Action after a happy night
The owner of ‘Sparky’ let the women spend the night after a drunken evening on July 30, 2022. When he went shopping the next morning, the British women attacked the bird. The man has now stated that he has suffered from anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia since the crime. It was said that the gray parrot could sing the British national anthem and themes from TV soap operas.
Judge Richard Archer called the crime “plainly incomprehensible.” A jury in Carlisle, North West England, sentenced the defendants to 25 months in prison for inflicting needless suffering on a protected animal.
