“Poisonous” Food – Illnesses after visiting the Parliament canteen

Date:

A dish of string beans caused numerous visitors to the Kelsen restaurant in parliament to be out of action on Monday. The affected people complained of severe stomach and intestinal problems.

The restaurant’s kitchen suspects a mistake was made in the preparation of runner bean falafel. In a conversation with the APA Wednesday morning on the sidelines of the special session of the National Council, it was said that a hygiene problem was not conceivable. Rather, there could be a connection with the poisonous string bean compound phasin, which must be boiled out. In any case, they themselves have contacted the market office, which is currently investigating the cause of the nausea.

A number of people were affected, including parliament staff, visitors and a kitchen worker. Everyone had eaten the runner bean falafel with pumpkin hummus and tabbouleh. Some even needed medical attention.

Runner Bean dish removed from menu
However, the restaurant, which is located on the top floor of the Parliament, can continue to function. MPs who want to visit the restaurant during the special session next Wednesday can have lunch in the “Kelsen” if they wish. There is probably no longer any danger, as the beetle bean dish has now, unsurprisingly, been removed from the menu.
