The passengers of the American airline Delta Airlines will probably not soon forget this flight from Milan to Atlanta. Shortly before its scheduled landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the machine encountered severe turbulence. Eleven people had to be taken to hospital after landing.
There were 151 passengers and 14 crew members on board the Airbus A350. The injured included both passengers and crew members. It is not yet clear if there are any serious injuries.
A series of dangerous turbulence
Recently, the number of passenger aircraft incidents had increased. According to CBS, one person was killed in March when a Bombardier CL30 airliner ran into severe turbulence en route from Dillant-Hopkins Airport in New Hampshire to Leesburg Executive Airport in Virginia. The flight had to be diverted to Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
Also in March, a Lufthansa plane from Austin, Texas, to Frankfurt am Main, Virginia, was forced to make an emergency landing. Again, several people on board sustained injuries, Statistics Netherlands reports. Just a day later, a Condor flight from Frankfurt to Mauritius was hit. About 20 injured people were counted after this incident.
