Mysterious sightings of tanks in the middle of the night and an unmissable bushfire at the military training ground in Allentsteig, Lower Austria – and why all this? Here the army practiced sharpshooting with German comrades. However, the concerns of many citizens prefer to be ignored in the official operational report…
The army’s press release about the joint exercise with the German Artillery Association clearly falls under camouflage and deception. “The international cooperation program allows us to take advantage of this exchange of experience and thus the further development of the respective weapon system, to improve the performance and broaden the horizons of our soldiers,” said Minister Klaudia Tanner.
Helpers were upset
No evidence has been found for the day-long and dangerous deployment of the local firefighters, who – as reported – had to divert to a large fire caused by an explosive grenade. Initially belittled, the flames continued to spread. More than 400 hectares of forest were destroyed. In the “Krone”, the volunteers expressed their anger, but the commander of the military training ground said that field fires after live ammunition are “standard”.
Speaking to the NÖN, Colonel Herbert Gaugusch said the drought was not taken lightly and defended himself: “The official forest fire ordinance refers to the ban on lighting fires and smoking in the forest and not on the practice of sharpshooting.”
