In Jordan, a 20-year-old groom has been killed by gunshots at his own wedding. The young man was hit by a stray bullet during the wedding ceremony in the south of the country on Wednesday. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The shooter was arrested.
In Jordan, it is illegal to use firearms in public. Nevertheless, people still die there and in other countries in the region as a result of shots being fired in the air during weddings and other celebrations.
Following the incident, activists called on people across the country to boycott this way of expressing joy during celebrations, state news agency Petra reported Thursday. This practice kills innocent people.
