The family experienced the greatest happiness at the end of November at the birth of their first child – and two months later, without warning and without omen, the family fell from a clear blue sky into the deepest abyss of sadness. The father of the family died just two weeks after his thirtieth birthday.
A horror that couldn’t be worse. Friends had come to visit to look at the baby, the cutlets were already steaming temptingly at the lunch table, only the young father had not yet returned home from woodworking. His own father – the family lives in a multi-generational home – went looking. And found the young Styrian buried under a tree. Under the spruce tree that killed him. Not even a mighty tree, but a rather slender one, what a mockery. It hit the only place the 30-year-old, always so concerned about safety, was unprotected: part of his neck.

The wedding was already planned, the expansion of the farm high on the mountain, a second baby because they had so much joy with little Max – instead the young woman now finds herself without her beloved partner. Without his help on the farm, with 16 dairy cows. With a little half-orphan. What should you say to her? Will it become a phrase again that time heals all wounds? No.
