On Thursday, a violent collision between a car and a truck took place in Mureck in southern Styria. The heavy vehicle even ended up in the ditch. Two 15-year-olds escaped in the car with a fright.
Probably due to carelessness, a 52-year-old driver on the federal road between Eichfeld and Oberraktisch encountered the oncoming vehicle. At that moment a train of trucks was approaching, the driver (49) tried to avoid and brake hard – but the collision was unavoidable.
Two youths were unharmed
The truck was thrown into the ditch, the tractor and the car were badly damaged. The two drivers were injured and were taken to Wagna Hospital by the Red Cross. Two 15-year-olds who were in the car were unharmed, police said. The debris also damaged another car.
The drivers were not under the influence of alcohol. The fire brigades of Eichfeld and Mureck were also in action and the national highway was closed to traffic for about an hour and a half.
