In September, two documentaries about ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) will appear in quick succession. The documentary “Project Ballhausplatz” has been talked about for a long time, the second (“Short – the film”) has only now surprisingly been announced – a week before the theatrical release. In an interview with the “Krone”, the filmmakers emphasize that this is a coincidence and defend themselves against the assumption that the ÖVP is behind the second strip.
In the trailer for the obviously expensive production, the plethora of ÖVP protagonists, from Sebastian Kurz to Gernot Blümel to ex-Chancellor Wolfgang Bowl and their statements, led numerous observers to believe that Kurz’s political work was strongly told from the perspective of the People’s Party. Director Sascha Köllnreitner sees it very differently. There is “no intention to wash clean”, but these are striking statements. He himself is also critical of the “praises”. They simply wanted to shed light on the “belligerent political figure” Sebastian Kurz, his career and the investigations against him.
