The price increases greet you every day. Even now, the adjustment of the guideline values in Vienna increases the rent of 400,000 apartments. No wonder more and more people are concerned about their bills.
The inflation spiral is a bottomless pit. Added up, there are often thousands of euros more per year, as the “Krone” calculates:
- Rent:An 80 square meter apartment in an old building, for which the rent was previously 464 euros, now costs 492 euros, cold and without supplements. Additional costs for the tenant per year: 336 euros.
- Gas and Energy: Outraged, a reader turned to the “Krone”: in a letter from her provider, she received the price increase for gas consumption in her 120 square meter apartment. “Previously I only paid 202 euros per quarter for gas, from May that will be 384 euros”, the family mom groans. Annual additional costs without electricity and water: no less than 728 euros.
- Park: To make matters worse, the parking sticker in Vienna was extended in the midst of the inflation wave. Car owners now pay ten euros per month for parking in the residential area and 2.20 euros for an hour in the short-term parking zone. All in all, this can quickly add up to several hundred euros in parking costs per year.
- Thought: A commuter reports: A few months ago she refueled her Sharan for 85 euros, this week she paid 129 euros. She fills up three times a month, which results in an increase of 1,584 euros per year if the prices remain the same.
- Shopping: A visit to the supermarket has become enormously more expensive. Butter costs 21 percent more than a year ago, white bread 17.4 percent.
- To build: Things are getting critical for home builders, the material is expensive. A year ago, a cubic meter of solid construction wood cost about 337 euros, now it is 450 euros.
- Insurance: Insurers based on the construction cost index recorded a 20 percent increase in February.
- Trip: Fuel surcharges drive up the price of some air travel. In many families, a holiday by the sea will in any case fall victim to the general price increase.
Who will finally stop this price madness?
