Under police interrogation – Murder suspect: ‘Never intends to kill her’

Date:

Christian L. (41) is in prison on suspicion of murder. On Saturday night, he made a de facto confession: “I just wanted her to be quiet.” He stabbed his estranged wife three times.

They were together for ten years, married five years ago, had two children (6 and 12) and ran several restaurants in Piesendorf together. Sabrina L. (30) has since passed away and Christian L. (41) is in prison in Puch.

As the readers of “Krone” know, the German-born Austrian volunteered after a day on the run. During the Saturday interrogation, he noted, “I was bloodthirsty. I just wanted her to be calm and it was all over.” The 41-year-old could not provide details – he spoke of a “blackout” and a “state of emergency”. But he also said, “I never intended to kill Sabrina.” The situation escalated, everything happened spontaneously.

Quarrel in the inn kitchen led to bloodshed
On Friday morning, he had called his estranged wife to the inn. It was about the divorce and the planned takeover of the hospitality business: Christian L. should have continued to run the inn, while Sabrina L. wanted to run the pool buffet and elevator salon alone. About noon there was a meeting and a serious argument.

He allegedly stabbed his victim three times in the kitchen with a kitchen knife and choked her. “I am responsible for Sabrina’s death. I alone, and I’m sorry,” he told officers.

Lawyer finds manslaughter, not murder
Criminal defense attorney Franz Essl pinpoints a manslaughter, not a murder. The lawyer argues with a “commonly understandable emotion” as the reason for the crime.

Victim indicated to 41-year-olds: There was a contact ban
But the fact is: there were already signs of violence beforehand. Sabrina L. had already turned her husband in the spring – for serious bodily harm, continued persecution and dangerous threats. According to information from “Krone”, he threatened her with death in a text message. In April, the authorities imposed an entry and approach ban. So he shouldn’t have seen her at all.

The couple, who broke up, are said to have met again – probably also because of the planned divorce and the future of the catering industry. On Monday, the regional court is likely to impose pre-trial detention on the murder suspect.
