The trial against a 39-year-old Pole at the regional court in Feldkirch (Vorarlberg) ended yesterday with a hefty fine. The man had threatened his ex-girlfriend with violence.
“I’ll kill you and bury you in concrete if you leave with our son.” Words that can frighten you even as an outsider. And certainly the person being addressed. In this case it concerns the 39-year-old ex-partner of the accused Pole, with whom she has a five-year-old son. Although the couple have been separated since February, they live just a few blocks away from each other in the Oberland. As before, the child’s father lovingly cares for the boy, who is his everything. Yet there are always quarrels between the parents.
It’s just a word
On July 27, the case escalated and a report was filed. About the incident: “It was agreed that my son would be with me for two weeks during the summer holidays. Then when my ex told me that he was going to stay with her mother in Slovakia for the whole summer vacation, I was very disappointed,” the man explained in court, giving the reason for his thoughtless but unmistakable expression of his emotions. Addition: “Of course I wouldn’t have killed her or concreted her in.” He also learned the term ‘in concrete’ from his ex-wife and simply adopted it. And it’s just a word, after all.
The victim presents the situation differently: “I suffer from panic attacks, I am afraid of him. I have been in a new relationship since February, so I would like to move somewhere else. He will not accept that.” The fact that she didn’t keep the deal with him was because she wanted to change her life.
Judge Sabrina Tagwercher believes the victim’s description and finds the man guilty of coercion. The non-final verdict: 3780 euros partially payable fine. He has to pay half of it, the rest is on probation.
