The unavailability of a 20-year-old holiday guest led to a major search in Kleinwalsertal (Vorarlberg) on Tuesday evening. Several mountain rescue teams were deployed in the alpine terrain. The totally exhausted missing person was finally located shortly after 10 p.m. in the center of Riezlern.
The 20-year-old’s father raised the alarm after his son did not return from a mountain hike and all attempts to reach him by phone failed. The search was started around 8 p.m. by the mountain rescue service, in which the drone team of the Allgäu mountain rescue service also participated. A police helicopter that could fly at night was also requested.
Found in the center of Riezlern
The 20-year-old was eventually found in the center of Riezlern. He stated that after the so-called “Three Summit Tour”, he entered the Mindelheim via ferrata at about 4:30 pm. He misjudged the time – he only managed to climb the course with his last strength. He then descended via the Wildental to Riezlern.
Mobile phone battery empty
Telephone contact with him was not possible because the battery of the 20-year-old’s mobile phone was empty.
