The Italian state pays 77,468 euros in damages to the relatives of a 32-year-old teacher who died after an AstraZeneca vaccination. In a criminal investigation into the death of the woman, who died of cerebral thrombosis in April 2021, the Genoa teacher succumbed to a reaction to the vaccine.
The coroner’s report shows the woman’s death was due to side effects of the vaccine, which acquitted the doctors who vaccinated the teacher, Italian media reported Monday. This is the first death from a corona vaccine compensated by the Italian state.
Severe headache after vaccination
Francesca Tuscano died on April 4, 2021 at the San Martino Hospital in Genoa. She had received a dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine about 48 hours before her death. Within hours of the vaccination, the 32-year-old complained of severe headaches. The next morning, her parents found her unconscious. She died two days later.
Family plans to file civil suit
The Italian government has set up a 150 million euro fund to compensate people who have suffered damage from the Covid vaccination. Given the low amount of compensation, the family plans to initiate civil proceedings against the Italian state.
