On Friday, a 29-year-old motorcyclist fell in Liezen, Styria, after having to avoid a car whose driver had overtaken him. The person who caused the accident was hit and it later became clear why…
On Friday around 5:15 p.m., the 29-year-old from Linz rode his motorcycle on the Ennstalstrasse B320 through the Liezen area towards the A9. Shortly before the highway entrance, he had to swerve to avoid a car whose driver had overtaken him and crashed. He was injured to an unknown extent and was attended to by other road users.
Courageous eyewitnesses
The driver of the car drove off in the direction of Schladming without stopping. Road users who noticed the accident and the driver’s escape immediately gave chase.
However, this accelerated through the Liezen area so much that those pursuing them had to abandon the plan. Only fragments of the car’s license plate were known.
Severe intoxication
The escaped motorist was identified through extensive investigation. It concerned a 49-year-old from the Liezen district. After initially denying it, the man eventually admitted that he had been at the scene of the accident. He explained that he did not notice any collision and therefore continued his journey home.
An alcohol test on the 49-year-old came back positive and revealed that he was heavily intoxicated. The driver’s license has been confiscated and a report is being filed against the man.
