The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department has solved a series of forty coups in four districts. The suspects are three, aged 29, 30 and 36. The Street Crime Task Force (EGS) arrested the men in May, it was announced on Sunday.
“The extent of the damage is in the lower six figures,” spokesman Mattias Schuster said when asked. In the coups in the districts of Leopoldstadt, Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, Donaustadt and Liesing, the suspects always followed the same pattern as the coup. Police headquarters reported this on Sunday.
Police said the crime objects in question were first identified and marked with liquid glue. The suspects later gained entry by smashing or breaking windows and balcony doors.
Mostly jewelry stolen
Jewelry was usually stolen during the burglaries. After receiving the correct information, EGS researchers finally gained access to the homes of the Georgians in May. The three men have been in custody ever since.
