A large contingent of armed police officers could be found in the center of Klagenfurt on Wednesday afternoon. A woman noticed two bare-chested men in a supermarket and raised the alarm. The area was therefore cordoned off and searched.
On Wednesday, there were numerous police officers in the area of 10.-Oktober-Strasse and Paulitschgasse in Klagenfurt. “A lady filed a police report because two men who went topless to buy a snack at Billa and then disappeared with shoulder bags into the nearby underground parking garage noticed her,” said Waltraud Dullnigg, police press spokesperson.
Area searched with special forces
A large contingent of emergency services was deployed. In addition to the Libelle police helicopter and all patrols in the Klagenfurt urban area, police dog handlers with their four-legged friends, bodies with expertise in explosives, the rapid response group and the Cobra task force were also on site. “After an ad like that, everyone shows up to see what it’s all about. “You need a lot of personnel to cordon off the area and search suspicious areas,” Dullnigg explains.
A short time later the all-clear was given and the operation was terminated. “The two men were volunteers who cleared and cleaned the underground parking garage after the storm. They just felt warm. So there is no danger whatsoever,” said the press spokeswoman.
