A different kind of European Championship took place this week at the fire school in Tulln in Lower Austria: the European Snow Plow Championship. Nine European countries attended, including Austria, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia, France, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Latvia. In the end, Asfinag employee Manuel Luger of Ybbs’ highway maintenance department won the European Championship title out of the twelve best drivers.
“This competition shows what skills all road maintenance workers should have, whether on the highway or on the national road network,” said Asfinag Head of Department Heimo Maier-Farkas responsible.
Team Austria in particular stood out this year: the four team members took the first four places. Fourth place went to Klaus Enders of the Asfinag-Autobahnmeisterei Lieserhofen, third place to Tommy Hecher of the Burgenland Association of Towns and Gerhard Vock from the state of Lower Austria.
