Brutal robbery of a taxi driver in Innsbruck at the end of May! Two initially unknown perpetrators attacked the driver (27) in the early morning hours and then stole the wristwatch of the victim fleeing on foot. A search was unsuccessful. But now the handcuffs clicked.
“After extensive investigations by the LKA Tyrol, a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old man, each German citizen, both living in Switzerland, were identified,” the police said. A clue to the perpetrator’s vehicle set the investigators on the trail. “The subsequent investigations in collaboration with the Federal Criminal Police Office and various European police services showed that the vehicle was used by the two suspects,” explains the director.
Looted watch sold in Bosnia
The two young men were arrested last week in Switzerland on the basis of a European arrest warrant and transferred to the Innsbruck prison in Austria. “When questioned by LKA officials, they confessed, the motive being lack of money and substance abuse disorder,” the researchers say.
The hard object with which the victim was hit on the head was a pistol, which the suspect threw into a body of water after the crime. The stolen watch was sold in Bosnia for more than a thousand euros.
