The violent storm ‘Daniel’ in central Greece caused flooding and serious damage a few days ago. The Graz couple Michaela and Philipp have also been missing since then. After a female body was discovered on the beach at the beginning of this week and a male body shortly afterwards, there is now sad certainty: DNA traces from the woman’s body have shown that it is actually the missing Grazern.
According to Greek police, both bodies were found on the beach of Theotokos near the settlement of Lyri on Mount Pelion. The deceased couple is said to have been swept away in their bungalow by the heavy floods after the storm “Daniel”.
The identification of the man’s body is still ongoing
According to Greek media reports, the identification of the male body through DNA analysis is still pending and the official result is awaited.
Wedding party with 40 guests
The couple from Graz married in August with 40 guests in the Pelion region, where the bride’s family has been vacationing for decades. The newlyweds remained in the region. Despite the storm, the bridal couple did not want to flee, but stayed in the bungalow. However, according to local eyewitnesses, it was torn away and washed into the sea.
