A trip to the Diedamskopf in the Bregenzerwald ended on Saturday with a helicopter flight to hospital for a 27-year-old paraglider. The man crashed shortly after take-off during a special flying maneuver and injured his foot and back.
On Saturday around 1:10 p.m., a 27-year-old paraglider pilot attempted to perform a so-called “top landing” after taking off from the Diedamskopf in the municipality of Schoppernau. According to police information, it involved a landing in the immediate vicinity of the previous take-off.

At a height of about ten meters above the ground of the take-off point, the pilot pulled the lines several times, folding the ends of his canopy. This probably caused the current to get stuck, causing him to fall to the ground.
Emergency medical helicopter in action
After initial treatment by the emergency doctor, the young man from Vorarlberg with suspected back and foot injuries was flown by helicopter from the emergency doctor to the state hospital in Feldkirch.
