Incident at Pillersee – dog owner (76) attacked and injured by cow

Date:

Through the time of year, grazing cows and dog owners have long ceased to get in each other’s way. In St. Ulrich am Pillersee in Tyrol, however, a cow attacked a couple and their four-legged friend on Tuesday. A local (76) was injured.

The couple said at around 9:20 a.m. that they were walking a short-leashed dog near a meadow in the Ortisei municipality. For some reason, a cow grazing right next to the footpath approached the woman and the dog.

Scaring away didn’t work
After a loud announcement by the 76-year-old husband, the cow attacked him and hit his head on the ground. As a result, according to the initial findings, the Austrian suffered minor head and pelvic injuries. He was flown by rescue helicopter to the hospital in St. Johann.
