Police officer Matthias from the emergency room was in the right place at the right time. After a man collapsed unconscious during the Welser Volksfest, the officer – who is also a paramedic – immediately started resuscitation measures and saved the young man’s life.
On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., police officers from the Upper Austrian Emergency Unit became aware of an unconscious person at the Welser Volksfest. A 31-year-old from Gunskirchen suffered a cardiac arrest.
Resuscitation measures were successful
The officers immediately began resuscitation measures and called emergency services. By the time paramedics arrived, the man had begun breathing again and was placed in the recovery position. He was then taken by ambulance to the Welskliniek.
