After the terrifying discovery of a floating corpse Tuesday afternoon in the Bay of Rust in Burgenland, the autopsy of the fatal victim has now been completed. The 71-year-old from Styria drowned.
As Burgenland’s state police headquarters announced Friday, there was no evidence of third-party negligence after the autopsy. The man drowned in Rust Bay.
The night before, the Styrian guest must have celebrated with his brother in a cabin of the sailing club. The accident happened when he later wanted to go back alone in the dark.

At the spot where the man was found, the water is only 30 centimeters deep. As the corpse suffered a head injury, an autopsy was ordered: now death by drowning is certain.
