A fatal accident took place in the Silvretta Group on Sunday. A woman traveling with her partner had an accident on the Piz Linard (3,410 meters), located on Swiss territory.
The 44-year-old alpinist and her partner came from the Linardhütte on the southeastern ridge on their way to the highest peak of the Silvretta group, the Piz Linard, at 3,410 meters. According to the initial findings of the Graubünden cantonal police, the woman fell about 200 meters at a height of about 3,330 meters shortly before the summit at 10:30 am.
No chance of survival
The doctor of the REGA helicopter who was subsequently alerted could only determine that the crashed Swiss man was dead. Grischun’s care team was called in to care for the uninjured partner who had to witness the crash drama.
Investigations are underway
Together with the public prosecutor’s office, the Alpine police of the Graubünden cantonal police are investigating the exact course of the mountain accident.
