A few hours before a meeting of the Ramstein group of Ukrainian military supporters, aggressor Russia carried out air strikes on the country. The western Ukrainian city of Lviv, which plays a central role in military supplies, was also hit.
Mayor Andriy Sadowy and regional governor Maksym Kosytskyi called on people to remain in shelters as further attacks are expected. There has been an air raid siren in the western half of Ukraine since approximately 2 a.m. local time (1 a.m. CEST).
Warehouse caught fire
According to local authorities, air defense systems in Lviv are working to repel a Russian air attack. Russia also uses Iranian Shahed drones for this purpose. The warehouse of an industrial company caught fire due to a drone attack, regional governor Kosyzkyj said. An injured woman was rescued from the rubble of the building.
On Monday evening there were already reports of Russian air strikes on the eastern city of Kharkiv. An industrial zone there was hit, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said shortly after midnight. “Kharkov is being shelled by Russian missiles again,” he wrote on Telegram. Explosions were also reported in the cities of Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Kherson, Odessa, Kryvyi Rih and Khmelnytskyi.
Belgorod region in Russia shelled
Apparently there were also air raids in the opposite direction. As authorities in the southern Russian border region of Belgorod reported, air defenses were able to shoot down three “airborne targets” over the south of the region.
