A massive gas explosion at a nine-storey apartment building near Moscow killed at least two people and injured nine others on Wednesday morning. The cause of the accident is still unclear.
At least nine residents – including two children – were injured in the powerful explosion, authorities said. More than 170 people were brought to safety in the city of Noginsk.
Several apartments completely destroyed
Photos and videos show that the facade of the apartment building was partially torn off by the force of the explosion. The debris flew several meters and several apartments were completely destroyed.
At some point, two floors in the residential building collapsed, according to the Ministry of Civil Protection. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, it is said.
