Six women have been arrested in Venezuela. They are accused of regularly locking a 13-year-old disabled girl in a wooden cage.
Attorney General Tarek William Saab said this on Tuesday (local time) about the online service. They would therefore be accused of “cruel treatment and participation in a criminal organization”.
Neighbors wanted to lynch parents
According to the information, the boy was born with a disability. Authorities say the 13-year-old was gagged when police rescued him. Neighbors of the family from a poor neighborhood in the northwestern city of Araure tried to lynch the child’s parents after discovering the abused child.
This is what the cage must have looked like:
Barely any room to move
According to local media, the boy had been in the cage since he was six. Prosecutor Saab published a photo of the wooden construction. So the child probably had little room to move. Cloths were placed on the floor of the cage.
Boy come home
Neighbors had informed the police about the torture, after which officers arrested the women on Friday. Police have released images of an apparently dehydrated boy who was given an energy drink. The 13-year-old will now be housed in a house in the Venezuelan capital Caracas.
