Volodymyr Zelensky’s government has filed a lawsuit against Poland, Slovakia and Hungary over import restrictions on Ukrainian grain. Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová has now sharply criticized the approach. Moreover, Zelenskyj’s statements ‘really didn’t work’.
The Ukrainian president told the UN General Assembly that the “political theater” surrounding grain imports from Ukraine only benefited Russia. Černochová then wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter) about an “insult” to the Polish people. “I know their mentality (…). Proud, combative and courageous people who do not let anyone scold them or give them orders. This is a postulate proven by history. This statement from the Ukrainian president to Poland really didn’t work, sorry.”
At the time of the trial, Poland and Slovakia were also about to hold elections and had been helping Ukraine ‘very intensively’ for a year and a half. According to the minister, the disputes must be resolved at the negotiating table.
Temporary corridor constructed
The Ukrainian navy has now set up a temporary corridor to export agricultural products, among other things. The freighters Azara, Ying Hao 01 and Eneida transport a total of 127,000 tons of agricultural products and iron ore to China, Egypt and Spain. The first two cargo ships to arrive at Black Sea ports since Russia ended the grain deal in July have already left with grain on board.
It is a test of whether grain exports will work without the United Nations-Turkey agreement. Ukraine announced the new corridor in August. Now ships will be able to use it to sail to the Black Sea ports again.
