The Munich II Public Prosecutor’s Office declined to comment on the report. “The investigation against three suspects is still ongoing,” said spokeswoman Andrea Grape of the Public Prosecution Service. The investigation against two accused railway employees had already been stopped.

It remained unclear whether and when a report could be filed. Shortly after the accident there was speculation about prior warning from railway employees.

The derailment claimed five lives
In the accident on June 3, 2022, a regional train from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Munich derailed – five people were killed and 78 were injured. According to an interim report from the Federal Office for Railway Accident Investigation, damaged concrete sleepers were the cause of the accident. The railway has announced that it will replace several hundred thousand concrete sleepers after the accident.
