A two-knife attack was not the first incident between the two young women. There was a recurring conflict in the relationship: the victim was more interested in blondes, and the brown-haired defendant was extremely jealous because of this…
A motive that often comes up at the Vienna Regional Court: raging jealousy. This was also the case in the trial of a 26-year-old. Dangerous threats, serious coercion, intentional bodily harm: the list of crimes charged is considerable. The victim was always the same: her then partner.
Jealousy overshadowed the relationship
The two were a couple for over a year and also lived together. “What overshadowed everything was my client’s jealousy,” describes lawyer Anita Schattner. This is likely exacerbated by the student’s diagnosed emotionally unstable personality disorder.
The defendant remembers the conflicts: “There was always flirting with other blonde women, especially blonde women. She then admitted that she really likes blonde women. She just prefers blonde.”
The suspect has dyed his hair blond
And that wasn’t the 27-year-old with her long brown hair. It is said that it was even cleared up in January. “Nothing was ever enough for her. She said it wasn’t authentic. At one point she even said that blondes are actually better people. They deserve more protection.”
“She Made Me Feel Like I was Crazy”
This raging jealousy, the feeling of never being enough, Instagram likes on one of the victim’s exes and the fact that the 23-year-old rugby player was once again looking at a blonde runner became too much for him in May. “I just always wanted the truth. And she never admitted anything. She made me feel like I was crazy.”
Then she pulled out two knives: a bread knife in her left hand, a carving knife in her right. “The victim lied to her. “It felt like a stab and she wanted to show her what it felt like,” the prosecutor dares to take a look into the suspect’s emotional world. The student claims: “I just wanted to scare her” and said she reached too far forward and stabbed her partner.
Not the only outbreak of violence
The 23-year-old suffered lacerations to her hand and knee and an opening in her chest; the injuries were not life-threatening. But that was just the escalation of a series of incidents caused by jealousy of blonde women. The 27-year-old had already threatened her now ex-partner with a knife. “She often threw things at me,” the victim recalled.
The rugby player considers this raging jealousy to be completely unfounded: “I was afraid to look at blonde women. I was more afraid of them than anything else. I’m doing therapy now. I’ll probably need a few more months of therapy.”
“Often a different view of reality”
Due to the emotionally unstable personality disorder, the 27-year-old student has been hospitalized twice and she also takes medication for her psychoses. “At that time I often had a different view of reality. I didn’t want to sting. That was not my intention. With a meat cleaver… for God’s sake!” – but her psychological condition is not the cause of the crime.
The jury is of the opinion that the young woman did not deliberately intend to seriously injure her partner. She is therefore sentenced to an 18-month suspended prison sentence for, among other things, serious bodily harm – not legally binding.
