Lost two driver’s licenses – Caught: Almost 100 km/h too fast and drunk!

Date:

You would think that anyone who gets behind the wheel drunk would at least try to behave inconspicuously. Two men were not only heavily drunk, but also hit the accelerator until they were caught by the police.

A 37-year-old man from Bosnia/Herzegovina and a 29-year-old man from North Macedonia had to surrender their driver’s license at almost the same time. On Saturday night, between 12:30 and 1:00 am, officials carried out speed measurements in the Südring area in Klagenfurt. In June 2021, three young men crashed into a house wall at 100 mph, two of whom died in the accident.

And also that night the police noticed a car that was driving too fast. “The car was measured at a speed of 137 km/h at the permitted speed of 70 km/h,” said a police officer. In addition, the 37-year-old was heavily intoxicated.

Driving licenses taken on site
At the same time, a patrol also noticed a speeder in Keutschacherstrasse in Klagenfurt. “During the follow-up drive it was discovered that the speed limit was 100 km/h and the permitted speed was 50 km/h. At the permitted speed of 70 km/h, the driver measured 160 km/h,” said an official. When the 29-year-old was eventually arrested, the breath test confirmed that he was also moderately intoxicated. The driver’s licenses of both drivers were confiscated at the scene.
