“Fight for reputation” – Fraud trial: Trump wants to appear in court

Date:

Shortly before the start of the civil proceedings for financial fraud against former US President Donald Trump and his two eldest sons, the 77-year-old announced that he would appear in court in New York on Monday. “I’m going to court tomorrow morning to fight for my name and my reputation,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday (local time).

Trump and his lawyers had previously indicated that the 77-year-old could at least participate in the first hearings. Trump, the clear favorite for the US Republican presidential nomination, has been invited as a witness but has not yet announced whether he will attend on Monday.

accusation; The Empire’s assets have been blown up
New York judge Arthur Engoron had already found Trump guilty last Tuesday of the fact that he had inflated the assets of his real estate empire over the years and had therefore committed “fraud”. Engoron thus anticipated an important decision on how this is possible in such a procedure.

A central question now will be how high the fine against Trump will be. New York State Attorney General Letitia James is seeking a $250 million fine against Trump and his family holding company. She also wants the ex-president and his two eldest sons, Donald Junior and Eric, to be banned from running businesses in the state. James sued Trump and his family in September 2022.
