Dorothy Hoffner completed her first skydive at the age of 100 – four years later, the Chicago woman now wants to enter the record book as the world’s oldest skydiver. To do this, the cheerful lady threw herself from a height of 4,100 meters.
“Age is just a number,” the 104-year-old told the cheering crowd after landing safely from her jump on Sunday. During her venture, she had to leave her walker on the floor – she was carried up the stairs to the plane.
The older woman rolled forward as she jumped from the plane. The experience lasted seven minutes; many friends were already waiting on the runway to congratulate Hoffner and also brought her her walker. “It was great up there. “It was all wonderful, wonderful, it couldn’t have been better,” she explained.
The reigning record holder was with Sprung for 103 years
The Guinness World Record for oldest skydiver was set in May 2022 by 103-year-old Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson from Sweden. The company with which Hoffner made the jump now hopes that Guinness World Records will recognize the adventure as a new record.
The skydive won’t be the retiree’s last adventure; the woman, who turns 105 in December, said she would like to take a hot air balloon ride.
