Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing the people of his country, which has been attacked by Russia, for a longer war. In his video address Wednesday night, he gave people in the Russian-occupied southern territories hope that Ukraine would liberate them.
“Kherson, Melitopol, Berdyansk, Enerhodar, Mariupol and all our towns and villages that are under occupation – under temporary occupation – should know that Ukraine will return,” Zelenskyy said. How long this takes depends on the situation on the battlefield. “We are trying to do it as soon as possible. We are obliged to expel the occupiers and guarantee real security to Ukraine,” he said.
In this regard, the President of Ukraine also stated the announced extension of martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days until August 23. “Our military and anyone defending the state must have all the legal means to act calmly,” Zelenskyy said.
