A 25-year-old was injured on Wednesday in Westendorf (Kitzbühel district) in Tyrol by planks and ladders falling from a truck. The truck driver (34) got stuck with his load on a hanging branch while swerving.
Around 4 p.m., the 34-year-old was driving his truck on the municipal road in Westendorf. “A 25-year-old Austrian woman with a stroller with a small child in it and another woman walked on the street in front of the approaching truck,” police said. In order to drive past pedestrians at an appropriate distance, the truck driver swerved, but did not notice a branch hanging from a tree and brushed his load against it.
Woman flown to hospital
The branch got stuck on a construction container and tore the container, as well as some ladders and scaffolding planks from the loading space. “The 25-year-old was hit in the leg by the falling scaffolding planks and ladders and, according to the current investigation, suffered minor injuries,” the director said. She was flown to the hospital in Kufstein by rescue helicopter. Her companion and the toddler were unharmed.
Two injured in car accident
A second traffic accident in the Kitzbühel district took place in Fieberbrunn on Thursday morning. On a sharp bend, two cars traveling in opposite directions, driven by a 54-year-old and a 22-year-old, collided. Both drivers were injured and taken to St. Johann Hospital.
