It is common knowledge that Russia is eagerly promoting the war and looking in every corner for supplies for the front. However, in the Russian city of Berezniki, the advertising ultimately went too far. Because a display simultaneously advertised military service and a funeral service.
“A job for real men,” was the message on a billboard intended to make a deployment to the front attractive to the Russian population, writes the news portal ’59.ru.’ “Shoulder to shoulder with our compatriots,” the report continued. There was also a phone number listed where you can volunteer.
Immediately afterwards, a local funeral service was advertised. Bold letters drew attention to the “main gate of the city cemetery”, as the provider calls itself:
Veterans asked for forgiveness
After a brief uproar online, the director of the company managing the billboard came forward, writes “59.ru”. He has already asked the veterans for forgiveness.
“We didn’t want to make any hidden innuendos,” the operator claimed. It was a mistake and a series of unfortunate circumstances. As compensation, he now wants to show free portraits of soldiers who died in Ukraine.
The advertisement for the funeral director has now been removed. So now the billboard is “only” looking for “real men” for the war.
