Hamas’ armed wing released a video of fighters with three prisoners in civilian clothes. According to the video commentary, these are members of the Al-Qassam Brigades who captured “several enemy soldiers” during the battle. Hebrew writing in the background indicates that the images were taken on the Israeli side of the Eretz border crossing with the Gaza Strip. According to a report by TV channel Reshet, thirteen Israeli hostages are being held by Palestinian fighters in the southern Israeli city of Ofakim.
Soldiers are also kidnapped
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed the kidnappings of Israelis by Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip on Saturday afternoon. The spokesman said soldiers were among those abducted, without giving any information on the number of abductees. Palestinian militants were also able to capture an Israeli tank (see video above).
