A forestry accident in the Tyrolean Fließ (Landeck district) had a fatal outcome on Saturday afternoon. A 51-year-old man became stuck in a tree in front of his son and other farmers. All help came too late for him.
Together with his son and other farmers, the local man was doing forestry work in a forest in Fließ shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday. The 51-year-old was cutting down a spruce tree with a chainsaw when it suddenly broke off. This caused another tree to move and trapped the woodworker.
Colleagues freed him
Although his colleagues immediately came to his aid, freed him from under the trunk and called the emergency services, the rescuers could do nothing more for the man. His injuries were simply too serious and the 51-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
