“Let’s get out of here!” – A sauna in Leonding (Upper Austria) had to be evacuated late on Sunday afternoon. The rescue team was able to give the signal: no one was injured.
Shortly before 5 p.m. there was an alarm: chlorine gas leak! The Hart and Leonding fire brigades were sent to the Kürnbergbad location. According to initial reports, the sauna area was evacuated. The Red Cross was called in by the fire brigade, but is already on its way home. No one was injured. After an hour, all emergency services have left and the danger has been averted.
Several incidents in the summer
There have already been several incidents with chlorine gas in outdoor swimming pools this year, including in Lambach, Grieskirchen and Traun. In Feldkirchen, a private swimming pool that was not ventilated also had an increased concentration of the corrosive gas, which attacked mucous membranes and caused problems for a family.
