Worrying news from the Middle East: Contrary to initial reports, Hamas could have kidnapped or murdered three Austrians in southern Israel. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on Tuesday morning.
Since Saturday, numerous kidnappings have taken place as part of the terrorist organization Hamas’s major attack on Israel. The numerous international abductees could also include three Austrian-Israeli nationals who recently resided independently in southern Israel. There is currently no official confirmation.
The situation on site remains very confusing and communication options are also limited. The embassy in Tel Aviv maintains close contact with the relatives, but also with local authorities and European partners.
On Monday, the Foreign Ministry expressed relief that no Austrians were injured, killed or kidnapped in Saturday’s horrific attacks. However, the situation may have changed overnight.
