When a family meets in court, it usually doesn’t mean anything good. But a case in Linz that was heard on Tuesday was very special. A daughter allegedly stabbed her father. But then there was a surprising ending.
It’s not the ‘best family next door’, but at the end of the day, blood is thicker than water. This became apparent on Tuesday during the trial of a 21-year-old at the Linz Regional Court. She was accused of attacking her father with a kitchen knife in the garden shed on July 4 this year and stabbing him in the left shoulder. “The knife is 15 centimeters long, fortunately the wound was not too deep,” said the prosecutor, who accused her of deliberately causing grievous bodily harm.
Disruption dispute
The argument allegedly broke out over a lighter and the disorder in the hut. It remained unclear whether any of those involved had used drugs; these are apparently common in the family. The daughter admitted she wanted to stab her father, 51, but he inflicted the wound on himself. Because mother and father refused to testify, only the 21-year-old’s version remained: acquittal and she was allowed to go home to her daughter (2).
